Onwards

I thought it might hurt, but it doesn’t.
I’m surprised by how little I care.
I thought I’d be gutted and nosey and lost
But really I’m just laissez-faire.

I write poems to log my emotions
But I’m not really sure how I feel,
I’m just happy that I’m not as sad as I thought
And the whole situation’s surreal.

It’s easy to lose your perspective,
Get weighed down by wee niggles and knots.
But when you step back and consider the view,
You can finally join up the dots.

Stop thinking about what you’ve lost,
And start thinking of what you might find.
As if only you focus on what lies ahead,
You can leave all the old crap behind!
