The Bird and the Pussy-Cat

IMG_2743

The Bird and the Pussycat’s bright eyes met
Through the towering pane of glass.
Bird knew it was wrong, to pursue this love-song,
But he thought he was pretty bad-ass.
He fluttered his wings and puffed out his chest,
And sang to the watching cat,
“Oh pretty Pussy! You’re simply the best!
Won’t you come on outside for a chat,
A chat,
A chat?
Won’t you come on outside for a chat?”

Pussy said to the Bird, “Well this is absurd!
But I do like the words you sing-
Perhaps like those others, we are star-crossed lovers,
Have you ever heard such a thing?
Let’s open this door, so I can see you more,
And decide once for all how I feel!”
She pushed with all might and then took in the sight,
Of a decadent, lovely small meal,
Small meal,
Small meal,
Of a decadent, lovely small meal!

“Oh crap” the Bird cried, “my heart’s broken! You lied!
You cruel cats – you’re all just the same!
I won’t bother to run, as I know that’s more fun,
And a quick death will save me some pain.”
The cat looked on, puzzled. The bird should be guzzled,
And this one was no peaceful dove!
But she had to admit, that it was time to quit,
For there’s no greater feeling than love,
Than love,
Than love.
For there’s no greater feeling than love!
